Da Hong Pao
Da Hong Pao (Big Red Robe) The first Da Hong Pao Tea plants were discovered on a cliff in the mountains of Wuyi about a century ago. All initial attempts at growing these tea plants commercially failed. After decades of trying, it was realized that it is only possible to grow this variety in rocky regions at high altitude. Due to this, all initial harvests came from the very first six plants discovered which led to low yield but exceptional quality. Because of its rarity, Da Hong Pao Tea has long been considered the most precious variety of all the Chinese oolong teas.
