Earl Grey
Earl Grey Tea, named for historical Prime Minister Earl Charles Grey of England (1830-1834), is a classic afternoon tea that is flavored with bergamot oil. It is consumed widely in England and may be the most popular flavored black tea throughout the world.
Bergamot is a citrus fruit found primarily in the Mediterranean and is said to be a cross between the sour orange and lemon. As such, it has the characteristic round appearance of an orange but with a green rind. Its flavor is generally regarded to be too sour to consume on its own. However, it has been long used for flavoring throughout the Mediterranean region. Consumption of Bergamot is associated with several different health benefits.
Aromatic. Floral with bright citrus undertones. Bold and smooth with hints of toffee, citrus, and honey.
