Russian Caravan
Russian Caravan tea originated circa late 17th century/early 18th century during a time when camel caravans carried parcels of tea over 6,000 miles (across the relatively cold and dry climate of the Mongolian Steppes) from growing fields in Imperial China to the far reaches of Tsarist Russia. The tea was transported in wooden chests and/or hemp or bamboo baskets for the 16-to-18-month long journey. The permeability of these chests/baskets allowed the fine Chinese teas being carried to absorb the sultry and smoky characteristics of pine campfires the travelers burned nightly to keep warm along the passage.
Strong and bold, yet smooth and complex; sophisticated and smoky. Medium-bodied, aromatic and malty with undertones of chocolate and tobacco.
Contains approximately 30 to 60mg of caffeine per cup.
Ingredients: Organic black tea, organic Oolong, organic Pu’erh.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, place away from light in an airtight container.
Preparation: 1 tsp per 8 oz boiling water (212ᴼF). Steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Drink black or sweeten with sugar as desired. Enjoy!
